Barcelona start their campaign to win a fifth Champions League title when they play host to Spartak Moscow in Group G.
Barcelona were hoping to become the first team since AC Milan in 1989-90 to win the famous trophy in successive years last season, but they failed as they were dumped out by eventual winners Chelsea in the semi-finals.
On paper Barca have the greatest team on the planet with the likes of Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, David Villa, Xavi and Andreas Iniesta in their ranks and they would be anyone’s favourites to win it for a fifth time and actually get to keep it.
They have been drawn in Group G alongside Spartak Moscow, Celtic and Benfica and they should have no real problems in coming top.
Their opening game is against Russian side Spartak Moscow who finished fourth in the Russian Premier League last season.
For finishing fourth the Russians entered the qualifying stages at the final play off stage and they got the better of Fenerbahce over two legs.
Moscow won the first leg in Russia 2-1 before holding Fener to a 1-1 draw in Turkey to seal a place in the Group Stages thanks to a 3-2 aggregate success.
These two have never met in Europe before and
Bet365 are offering odds of 5/1 that the Spanish giants take this tie 3-0, while you can back the 1-1 draw at 16/1.
It is no surprise that Barcelona are the overwhelming favourites for all three points and they can be backed at 1/9 with Bet365, while Spartak Moscow are 18/1. The draw is 8/1.
