Sporting Braga open up their 2012-13 Champions League with a home tie against CFR Cluj.
It is fair to say that both Sporting Braga and CFR Cluj will be fighting it for third place in Group H and a spot in the Europa League as they face Manchester United FC and Galatasaray in their other group games.
Sporting Braga ply their trade in the Portuguese Liga Sagres and earned qualification into Europe’s number one club competition with a third place finish behind Benfica and champions FC Porto.
Braga entered the tournament at the play-off stage and needed the lottery of penalties to ensure they made it through to the Group Stages.
They were held to a 1-1 draw on home soil against Italian side Udinese, before doing the same in the second leg. That meany penalties and Brag advanced with a 5-4 success.
Their opponents in week one are the Romanian Liga I champions CFR Cluj and they will just be happy to avoid ending this difficult group with zero points - but they may not succeed.
CFR Cluj have already played two rounds this season as they started in the third qualifying round against Liberec.
A 3-1 aggregate win over Liberec set them up against Basel and they managed a same score line over two legs to advance to the Group Stages.
Bet365 are offering odds of 15/2 that Braga take the spoils 2-1, while Cluj are on offer at 14/1 for a shock 1-0 triumph.
Braga are clear favourites at 8/15 to win this game and put pressure on United and Galatasaray if one of them loses, while CFR Cluj are available at 9/2 with the draw on offer at 10/3.
