Arsenal will be hoping new signing Olivier Giroud will return to haunt his former club when the Gunners kick off their Champions League campaign.
The Gunners kick off their Group B campaign on Tuesday, September 18 with an away tie at French side Montpellier with Giroud returning to face his former employers for the first time since leaving for the Premier League.
Manager Arsene Wenger has lost a couple of key players this season with Van Persie joining Manchester United and Barcelona tying up the services of Alex Song, but the Frenchman is confident his new signings will relish the challenge in Europe.
Wenger picked up Giroud from Montpellier as well as German international Lukas Podolski from Cologne and Santi Cazorla from Malaga and despite an indifferent start to the Premier League campaign they will still be a major threat.
The Gunners drew their opening two matches 0-0 against Sunderland and Stoke City before finally finding the net through Podolski and Cazorla in a 2-0 win at Liverpool.
Montpellier are in the Champions League after winning the French Ligue 1 by three points with PSG trailing in second place.
Both these teams have yet to play a game in the 2012-13 Champions League campaign because of their relevant finishes in their domestic competitions.
Despite being the French champions Montpellier are seen as the outsiders to win this game with Bet365 and can be backed at 11/5, while the Gunners are on offer at 5/4. The draw is available at 9/4.
These two have never played each other in a competitive match in either the Champions League or Europa League and Bet365
are laying odds of 6/1 that Arsenal take a 1-0 win back to England.
